Hi, I'm Trystahn
I'm an artist and designer who graduates from Washington State University in the winter of 2024. My Major is DTC and I also have 2 minors in Fine Art and Communications. Outside of my student life I enjoy drawing, playing video games with friends, and binge watching shows.
Drawing is one of my oldest and favorite hobbies, starting before I entered Elementary school. However back then I was mostly drawing Pokemon and other strange things that popped into my head. Over time that hobby slowly faded into the back of my mind as other things took precedence in my life, like soccer and school. Despite that, drawing was always something I was fond of. I took many different drawing and art classes throughout my years of schooling, all which helped me improve my skills and reminded me of my passion. During my senior year of highschool is when I really got back into it. At the time I was drawing characters from shows and movies I watched and I was often inspired by my friends and family. Eventually a friend said I should start posting my art, so that's exactly what I did. That year is when I opened my instagram page that I still use today. In fact you can still find a lot of my old notebook art on my page. That decision is what ultimately got me reinvested into making art and is how I ended up on the path I’m on now.
Making art is a big part of me, but it's not all of me. I spend lots of time hanging out with friends, whether that's having a campfire at someone's house or playing some games online. More recently it's been games since me and most of my friends are still in college and find it hard to get out of the house, but we make the most of it. We actually have a yearly Christmas tradition where we all play on a modded Minecraft server. It's fun playing games but we’re all looking forward to having some more free time and money so we can go out to see concerts and things like that. Aside from my friends, I also spend a lot of time with my family.
I’ve been living at home with my parents, since they graciously allow me to stay, and on top of that we all work at the same place. Needless to say I see them a lot, but they’re always a blast to hang around so I don't mind. My parents are more than just cool though. My mom is always trying to prepare me for life on my own, and always cracking jokes while she does it. My dad has always been there, constantly asking me questions and getting involved as much as he possibly could. Because of them I have had so many opportunities, like going to college and saving up for my future. I really can’t say it enough but they mean the world to me and I appreciate everything they've done to get me where I am today. I wouldn't be half the man I am without both of them supporting me all these years.
Cherub
This project is by far one of my favorites. It was done by request of a friend one night we were all hanging out. To his surprise, and my own, I got seriously invested in it. I ended up drawing many concepts and plans for how the final artwork would look. At the time I hadn't been doing much serious artwork and was more focused on other aspects of my life, but this piece in particular dragged the artist back out of me.
This artwork is one of my favorite pieces I’ve ever made. The darker theming is something I really enjoyed working on, and the attention to detail is what I’m most proud of. Looking at it now there are some things I could have done better or spent more time on, but despite that it still remains one of my favorite artworks.

Phonic Bloom (logo)
Phonic Bloom is the name of the project I did for the Woodland library. In that project I was part of the design team. We were a small group of 5 designers who worked alongside other groups to create an interactive experience and a marketing campaign for an art installation in their children's reading room. My role in the design team was focused around making the logo for the project as well as animating it.
My logo was selected from a couple options and over time refined with input from the library staff and the rest of the project members. It was the first real world logo I made and turned out incredible. Aside from this version there are 2 others with variations in their colors and an animated version for each of those as well.
You can check out those versions by clicking the project image in my portfolio section.
You’ve reached the end!
If you read all that, thanks! If you didn’t, thanks anyways. Don't worry though, there's still more out there to see, like my instagram! You can find the links to my socials, my contact info, and a downloadable resume all below. Thanks for stopping by!
